Basic info you need to get started on your invitations...
Reception & Ceremony Venue
Booking your venues is one of the first steps to take in organising your wedding, as this sometimes dictates your date. Before you start looking for your venue, decide on the type of reception you want. A mega bash with a cast of thousands is going to require a very different locale than an intimate gathering for friends and family.
Date
Choosing a date is can sometimes be very difficult. Make sure you research school holidays or any major events that are happening the same time as your wedding, you don't want your guests to be fighting to find accommodation!
RSVP Date
The RSVP should be set at least two weeks prior to your wedding date, however it is better to have it at least 6 weeks prior in case you want to send out a second round of invitations. Always check with your venue however, as each caterer will need a different lead time for confirmed guest numbers.
RSVP Details
Because of modern technology, it is no long necessary to include stamped self-addressed envelopes for your guests to return their RSVP details to. An email address and mobile phone numbers will be sufficient. If there are older guests who are will not use either of these options, then give them a personal phone call or include self-addressed envelopes just for them. Make sure you prompt guests to let you know if they have any special dietary requirements (vegetarian/allergies/gluten free/celiac). |
